New art shows every 6-8 weeks support Yoga Art Music Dallas’s
synergistic business model while helping build connection and creativity

Yoga Art Music Dallas (YAM) is a vibrant example of entrepreneurial ingenuity — it has built a strong local following by combining daily yoga classes, rotating art exhibitions, a music and event venue, and other activities focused on meeting the ever-increasing need for “community, creativity, and connection.”

“YAM was founded in 2019 on a simple idea: wellness isn't one-dimensional,” says co-owner Jennifer Foster. “We believe people thrive when they have opportunities to move, create, and connect with one another. While yoga was in some ways the starting point, the thing we do 7 days a week, we always envisioned something much larger: a place where art, music, movement and most importantly community could coexist under one roof.”

That multi-faceted approach has led to what Foster calls “one of the most rewarding surprises” of the business — people discovering YAM through one type of offering and then taking advantage of others.

“Someone might attend an artist reception and later return for a yoga class,” she explains. “A yoga student might attend a concert, book our gallery for a wedding shower, or discover a local artist whose work ends up hanging in their home. Event clients often come back for classes, and our artists become part of our broader community by attending workshops and performances. We've found that each piece reinforces the others.”

YAM’s gallery space, which offers new shows every six to eight weeks, is central to that synergistic experience. “The constant transformation gives people a reason to come back and creates new conversations every time they visit,” notes Foster. Additionally, YAM’s sponsorship of Dallas artists has made it a stop on a local art tour, creating another opportunity for connection.

It was a local artist and tour organizer who alerted Foster and her colleagues to Gallery System. “Patching dozens of nail holes, sanding, touching up paint, waiting for it to dry, and then measuring and hanging the next exhibition simply wasn't a sustainable workflow. So in 2025 we made the decision to repair all the damage, repaint, and install the Gallery System,” says Foster.

With about 125 linear feet of hanging space, YAM’s GalleryOne installation was a substantial investment, “but we have never regretted it,” notes Foster. “Artists love it. Most of our exhibitions can be completely installed in about 90 minutes, reducing our installation time by roughly one-third. More importantly, we're able to reposition artwork instantly without creating new holes or damaging freshly painted walls. That's invaluable when you're curating a show and making adjustments as the collection comes together — or better yet as pieces are sold!”

“Projects like this embody exactly what YAM strives to do: create opportunities for people to experience art while strengthening their connection to the community around them,” states Foster. “People may come to see award-winning photographs of a place they love, and while they're here we hope they discover yoga classes, concerts, workshops, or even decide to host an event in the gallery. Likewise, members of our yoga community will be introduced to talented local photographers and the Conservancy's important work preserving White Rock Lake. That's exactly the kind of cross-pollination we hoped would happen when we opened YAM.

“Our goal has never been to be just a yoga studio or just an art gallery. We want to be a place where people discover something unexpected—and often leave more connected to their community than when they arrived.”
